AC Health Foodie Education Program

A 501(c)(3) Nonprofit · Atlanta, GA

AC Health Foodie, Inc.

Growing Healthy Kids, One Bite at a Time.

Educating kids & kids-at-heart on the fundamentals of healthier eating — one recipe, one snack, and one page at a time.

About

Founded in 2020, AC Health Foodie, Inc. has made a tremendous impact thanks to the dedication of our members and volunteers across the Atlanta community. We see every challenge as an opportunity — our Nutrition Development initiative ensures the children we serve are equipped to make healthier decisions in the real-life situations they face every day.

What started as a nutrition education program has grown into a full ecosystem of support: education, food access, and now literacy — because we believe wellness starts with the whole child.

Our Mission

AC Health Foodie, Inc. (ACHF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to establishing and maintaining diverse programs that help children build healthier lifestyles, decrease obesity and long-term illness, and strive for overall wellness — in body and mind.

What We Do

AC Health Foodie, Inc. (ACHF) is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to establishing and maintaining diverse programs for children to participate in healthier lifestyles, decrease obesity, long-term illness and stress, improved literacy, and strive for overall wellness. We are also focused on ensuring kids with food insecurities are equipped with healthy snacks through our A. Christopher Backpack program, and closing the gap of literacy insecurity through our Feeding The Mind Library Initiative.

AC Health Foodie, Inc. is dedicated to creating and supporting nutritional programs that encourage the overall body and mind wellness of children and children at heart.

A. Christopher's Backpack of Snacks

-

Healthy snacks for kids facing food insecurity, especially during school breaks

For many of the kids we serve, school meals are their main meals. When school is out — weekends, breaks, summer — that safety net disappears. A. Christopher's Backpack of Snacks closes that gap by putting healthy, nonperishable snacks directly into the hands of kids who need them most, in food-desert and low-income communities across Atlanta.

WHY IT MATTERS

  • Bridges the nutrition gap during school breaks, when free/reduced meal access pauses

  • Prioritizes healthier snack options, not just calories

  • Reaches kids directly in food deserts, where access to fresh, affordable food is already limited

HOW IT WORKS

Backpacks are assembled with donated and sourced snacks and distributed ahead of school breaks in partnership with local schools, community centers, and college outreach programs.

GET INVOLVED

  • Donate snacks or funds to stock backpacks

  • Partner as a school, church, or community center to help distribute

  • Volunteer to help assemble and pack

Feeding The Mind
Library Initiative: Literacy for Mental Wellness
-
Feeding the mind alongside the body

Feeding the body is only half the mission. In 2026, AC Health Foodie launched its newest initiative: a school library program built on the belief that literacy is wellness. Reading builds resilience, emotional vocabulary, and mental strength — the same foundations we build through food.

THE PROGRAM

Our pilot library is launching at Chattahoochee Hills Charter School, transforming an unused space into a welcoming home for books, reading, and reflection. Built from a simple idea — a family's surplus of outgrown books — the program has grown into a permanent ACHF initiative with a mission to close 'library deserts' the same way we close food deserts.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT

  • Framed explicitly around mental wellness, not just literacy — reading as a tool for emotional regulation and resilience

  • Volunteer-run, community-built, and designed to start with whatever books are available — no minimum threshold before opening the doors

  • Being documented from day one as a case study, so the model can be replicated at other schools and homeschool co-ops facing the same gap

VISION

What starts at one school is designed to grow. Our long-term goal is to bring this model to other under-resourced schools and homeschool communities, turning our early lessons — including the hiccups — into a training curriculum other organizations can use to start their own library and literacy programs.

GET INVOLVED

  • Donate gently-used children's & YA books

  • Volunteer for cataloging, shelving, or reading-time support

  • Sponsor shelving, labels, or furnishing for the library space
